Practice Description

Fairview Health Services is seeking a Surgical Pathologist to provide services to M Health Fairview community hospitals and clinics, based at the M Health Fairview Ridges Hospital. The M Health Fairview community hospitals supported include Southdale, Ridges, Lakes, and Northland hospitals. The Southdale Hospital is a 390 licensed bed facility known for award-winning heart, stroke, and cancer care; it was awarded a 5-Star rating in the 2019 Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) “Hospital Compare” quality survey. The Ridges Hospital is a 150 licensed bed facility offering a full range of primary and specialty care services to the Minnesota River Valley, including advanced emergency, surgery, and orthopedic care, a cancer care program, Breast Center, and Ridges Specialty Care Center; it was awarded a 5-Star rating in the 2019 CMS quality survey. The Lakes Medical Center is a full service, 59 licensed bed medical center; Lakes Cancer Center in Wyoming received a 3-year accreditation for breast cancer care from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers; and was awarded a 4-star rating in the 2019 CMS quality survey. The Northland Medical Center is a full-service, 54 licensed bed medical center, awarded a 4-star rating in the 2019 CMS quality survey.


Practice Details:

  • Join a team of 12 Pathologists, working in close collaborations with pathologists at the University of Minnesota
  • Practice base: M Health Fairview Ridges Hospital with flexibility to move to other Fairview sites to meet practice needs; privileges at Ridges, Southdale, Northland, Lakes, and University Hospitals and Fairview clinics
  • Call Frequency: On rotation schedule with other Fairview pathologists
  • Areas of practice: Surgical Pathology. Frozen section service. Supervising Pathology Assistants. Participation in multidisciplinary conferences
  • Annual volumes for pathologists at Fairview Health Services include approximately 34,000 Surgical Pathology cases, 400 bone marrow biopsies, 3000 GYN Cytology cases, and 3200 non-GYN Cytology cases
  • Fully integrated Electronic Medical Record (EPIC)

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an ACGME-accredited Pathology residency training program
  • Board-certified in Anatomic Pathology by The American Board of Pathology
  • Breast and/or GYN fellowship training
  • Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure
  • Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cytopathology or Hematopathology board certified or eligible
